CONTEMPORARY Irish music and dance show Dance of Desire takes centre stage during the Gulf Air Charity Irish Ball on Friday at 7.30pm at the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Manama.
The group of champion dancers are set to perform along with a selection of Ireland's finest musical and vocal virtuosos during the ball, which will be the gala event of Gulf Air's Irish Week celebrations to launch its new flights to Dublin, Ireland.
Dance of Desire is a 'world class' family show and has already played to sell-out audiences from Beijing to Berlin, Chicago to the Czech Republic and Kuala Lumpur to Paris.
Along with its array of performances in concert halls and stadiums across the world, it plays at the Black Box Theatre, Galway City, Ireland for over 125 performances each year.
Complete with entirely original music and choreography, this critically acclaimed production has been described as 'terrific' and 'stunning' and is also the only stage show of its kind in terms of size and style performing over such a prolonged period in a theatre in Ireland.
The accumulative skills and talents of the costume, set and lighting designers has ensured too that the power and passion of the show's storyline devised by Sean Quinlan is conveyed to the audience in a realistic and all encapsulating manner.
The scenes contained in the show are based on the Celtic mythological tale of The Legend of Lir.
This story is translated into over 10 languages for audiences around the world. The show's accomplished executive producers Eric Cunningham and Michael Carr have created a critically acclaimed masterpiece for all ages around the original music of Eric Cunning-ham, who was awarded the Irish Outstanding Young Person of the Year Award for 2005 by JCI Ireland.
The towering quality of the musical score has meant both the music and the composer have been continually applauded since the show's inception.
Irish bands, The Thatch Boys and Alanna will also take the stage.
The cost per person is BD25, including dinner, with tickets to be sold in tables of 10 people.
All profits from the event will go to the President's Relief Fund for Earthquake Victims 2005 to help with aid efforts in Pakistan. More details of the fund can be found on www.presi-dentofpakistan.gov.pk.
Gulf Air will be donating two return tickets from Bahrain to Dublin, which will be drawn on the night.
The sponsors for this event are Gulf Air, Tourism Ireland, African and Eastern, BJ's and JJ's.
