Abu Dhabi Rose 2007
A night of glamour awaits as our Rose of Tralee candidates charm us with their poise, elegance and wit. One winner will represent us in Dubai and hopefully go through to Tralee in August. This year we have six candidates. Meet them below!
You can also learn more about the festival, and even the words of the song, here!
Aoife Brosnan
Aoife Brosnan has been at the International Schools of Choueifat in Abu Dhabi
for the last year.
With a name like Brosnan, it is no surprise that Kerry blood courses through her veins, with both parents from Killarney, but home is Limerick, where she graduated with graduating with a degree in business, and where she hopes to complete her master's soon.
A qualified lifeguard, she would draw the line at rescuing spiders...
Clare Gallagher
Donegal-born and bred Clare Gallagher claims that her teaching primary school in Swords, Co. Dublin with newly arrived immigrants to Ireland helped prepare her for working in Abu Dhabi!
Over the last year she has become heavily involved with teaching Irish dancing to students in Abu Dhabi and her troupe made a star appearance at the recent St Patrick's Day Ball. She plans to return to Ireland after the summer.
Vicky O'Connor
Vicky O'Connor is another Limerick entrant. Working with different nationalities in Chouefat in Ruwais has convinced her that teaching is her future, and she will be adding the H.Dip to her degree in computing and business on her return.
People she would like to meet? - Podge and Rodge! Now there's a mix of cultures for you!
Ciara O'Donoghue
Ciara, from Tubber, Co Clare, teaches in Choueifat in Ruwais and has always been active in sports and drama. If you're interested the real story behind Alexander or Rome, Ciara is useful to have along on a pub quiz, with a degree in Classical Civilizations.
A seasoned public speaker, can she keep her cool under the spotlight at the Abu Dhabi Rose?
Laura O'Sullivan
Laura O'Sullivan is originally from West Cork but has been in Abu Dhabi for two years. Laura plays football with Abu Dhabi Na Fianna - a huge source of amusement for her family!
Teaching at Giggles in Abu Dhabi has clearly not dampened her enthusiasm, since she will be returning to Cork this year to pursue a career in secondary teaching.
Francesca Sullivan
Francesca Sullivan is in her final year at Al Khubairat and will be spreading her wings once she completed her final exams. Her family are long-standing Abu Dhabi residents and very active in the community, so Francesca has seen more changes than most in the capital city.
Lisa
Marie Williams
Another valiant member of Ruwais Rovers, Lisa has big plans for the future, and is in one of the best places in the world for it - property and real estate. OK, maybe not in Ruwais - Lisa hopes to join her brother in Chicago in real estate in a year or two.
An award-winning set dancer, from Gort in Galway, Lisa hates mushrooms and enjoys just the 'occasional' skydive. Just your normal girl...

And just to finish, it's not Tralee. But at least it's in the same county - Killarney.
